Miss Pinks Craft Spot

With our clocks going back 1 hour we had lots of time to get things done today, and there has been a bit of a spring clean in some areas of the house today (even thought it is autumn in Australia!), but that means that a nother weekend is almost over and I will be back to a busy working week, I so wish stamping and paper crafting could be my day job, one day I hope it to be. In between cupboard organisation and cooking dinner I've managed to create a card with the help of 2 challenges - Freshly Made Sketches and Stamp Ink Paper .   The colour challenge had me at Dark Pink, hahaha, there's a surprise... not! My colour selection is Mint Macaron, Melon Mambo and Granny Apple Green for this creation. I stamped the edges with a mix of the colours using 2nd generation stamping (stamping off once on scrap before stamping the card base), and lightly embossed the centre rectangle with the Subtle Embossing folder to give a hint of texture, mounting using a piece...

This week at What Will You Stamp? we are creating with gorgeous Dragonfly Dreams stamp set from page 26 of the Occasions Catalogue.  I adore the font of the sentiments in this set, and those little dots make a magnificent filler or background. I've also used the  coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlets Dies creating this card. Here are the colours I worked with for this project: I sponged the Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo and Tempting Turquoise with daubers so that I had soft edges where the colours changed. I also added Dazzling Diamond dots to the edge of the card, this brought the whole card together beautifully. To create the glittering overlay I stamped the dragonfly image onto vellum with VersaMark and applied Heat and Stick powder followed by Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, then cut with the detailed framelit. Welcome to the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest Janneke de Jong from the Netherlands. Janneke's blog Happy Stampin' is full of amazing projects, I decided to CASE the card below -  I was drawn in by the colours (haha, pink, funny that!) and also the combination of the positive and negative die cuts. I don't have the Special Reason Bundle that Janneke used for her card, so I have improvised and used Falling Flowers Bundle , here is what I have come up with: I used clear embossing powder to stamp the flowers then water coloured using Watermelon Wonder and Delightful Dijon from the 2014-2016 In Colour suite as well as the sentiments from Dragonfly Dreams are stamped in Tip Top Taupe.  Unlike Stylish Stems the May Flower framelits don't come in 2 pieces, so the detailed die cuts "fully cut" the image. I adore the background stamp from the  Dragonfly Dreams set. In my previous sneak peek I stamped off to create a lighter pattern, today thought I would try adding some water.... .  No need to adjust your focus! Isn't it interesting to see how the colours meld and create their own patterns depending on how much or little water is spritzed? Not a technique to use if you want your image to be precise, but fantastic for random backgrounds. I experimented using a combination of aqua painters, stamping & stamping off as well as adding water before and after stamping to obtain different depths of colour and clarity of stamping - it was fun trying different combinations and now I have a supply of pre-created backgrounds for future projects too! Today I have another sneak peek for you - I've used three new product lines from the 2017 Occasions catalogue I've used the stunning Detailed Dragonfly thinlets to create the focal point of my card, isn't it just gorgeous; I sponged Watermelon Wonder onto shimmery white cardstock, concentrating more colour where I would be cutting the body of the dragonfly. T he dots in the background are from the coordinating Dragonfly Dreams stamp set. The background is lightly water coloured with "stamped off" dots so they weren't too intense. I used a dauber and applied ink from the centre towards the edge of the"thanks" sentiment from Suite Sentiments to give it a faded, soft effect at the edges. I've decided to enter this card in two challeges - Stamp Ink Paper's 'Anything But Christmas"  and Just Add Ink's "Just Add...N" after all I used 3 N ew items :) Remember, it's not long til you can get...
