Miss Pinks Craft Spot

I do like the slimline cards, they give a whole new level of creativity to your designs, so naturally when I saw the Slimline sketch challenge over  at Hand Stamped Sentiments  I had to join in. I haven't played with watercolours for quite some time, I'd even go as far to say that I'm out of practice, but I persisted, and eventually had a background that I was happy with for this sketch. I used Pacific Point, Gorgeous Grape and Melon Mambo for my "circle", however, the watercolour had a mind of its own, and also created the outer elements - that's my story and I'm sticking to it! As the I lifted the colurs off the paper they faded, but still had a nice intensity, so I paired with different cardstock, being Highland Heather and Magenta Madness, things were definitely coming together. For my focal point I used the gorgeous Butterfly Beauty die, I trimmed 2 of the butterflys off so it would fit the card, then for some magic - I decided to try add Metallic Mes...

Welcome back Melon Mambo, I've missed you! I'm using the early release Quite Curvy Bundle for today's project and the sketch from this weeks challenge at Fab Friday . I've neglected Melon Mambo since I laid my hands on Magenta Madness, I'm sorry - today you were perfect for the Crumb Cake background as you are not as bright.   I used Stampin Blends to colour the flowers, and did the leaves in Granny Apple Green, when it came to the card stock I substituted in Old Olive, to tone down brightness. Colouring on Crumb Cake did change the colour of the blends compared to on Whisper White (I did expect that to occur). To make the background pop I added texture with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. I also added detail of the scalloped edge and a line of "stitching". Some simple stamping for a Sunday afternoon, my last day of annual leave, back to the 9-5 day job tomorrow, it's been a lovely 3 weeks. After trying some watercolour this morning, I went back to stamping, and came up with this card oh so quickly - I also forgot that you need to allow for watercolour backgrounds to dry! Inspiration for the layout came from this weeks CAS(E) this Sketch challenge: I used Pacific Point, Gorgeous Grape and Magenta Madness for my bokeh look using the Beauty Abounds stamp set, I couldn't decide on a sentiment, then I eyed Butterfly Gala sentiments and a touch of bling with Rhinestone Jewels and I was done. I found some new challenge blogs today, and this design is courtesy of the sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches . I love sketches, they are a great way to keep your creativity on a roll. I took the sketch quite literally, here's what I was inspired to create. I used the Lovely You stamp set for this creation, and my trusty sponge daubers - I do wonder where I would be without them some days.  I used 3 stamps to create my flourish, stamping the leaves in Pretty Peacock and the flowers with Highland Heather.  I used the daubers to ink up the stems, then if need wiped the ink from the flower, then applied Highland Heather with a dauber for the flower. For the circle element, I created a mask, then used a soft brush to put a light coating of Seaside Spray, then added a hint of Balmy Blue in the centre.
