I'm getting back into the swing of creating this weekend, what better way to get back into the groove than participate in some challenges, and even better when you can combine two!
I love both sketches and colour challenges, the sketch straight away reminded me of one of my current favourite Stamp sets - Falling Flowers , here is card I was inspired to create:
I have used 2 stamps from Falling Flowers to create my card, the flower was stamped, and then using the Stamp-a-jig I lined up the stamp to create the stem, masking the leaf at the top. I used an Aqua painter to colour, and then added clear Wink of Stella for shimmer.
The sentiment is created using the Hello You thinlets, I cut 3 sentiments and used a dauber to apply the glue to the back of each, layering them slightly offset, then applying to the card. Enamel shapes are always handy to till in a little white space - I find them to be a great finishing touch.
I like how I was able to interpret the colours for the SIP challenge, below is the palette I selected:

Hi Sue :) I like what you have done...When the mojo is gone sometimes these challenges are the pick me up we need.
ReplyDeleteSimple and so pretty, did I say I like it hahaha I love it!
Thanks Kim :)
DeleteGood morning from Iowa, a lovely card, love the colors and the layout, simple in design but very striking, using the purples is one of my favorites although I find the new purples a bit stressful to use, they don't stamp quite as true as the old ones do.
ReplyDeleteI've not used Purples much, but they are growing on me :)
DeleteJust a thought about using a dauber to apply glue, adding glue to these types of die cuts is a "sticky" business and is troublesome. The dauber is a great idea and it reminded me that I have a glue pad like a Versa Mark. I will have to remember to try that and it also comes with a refill.
ReplyDeleteThat glue pad sounds like an awesome way to get adhesive on delicate diecuts!
DeleteVery pretty take on the sketch!
ReplyDeleteThanks Leigh, I really enjoyed using this sketch to create
DeleteWow! You really smashed that sketch challenge - awesome job! Your colouring is fantastic - you really made me look twice at the flower because it looks so 3D!
