Miss Pinks Craft Spot

Welcome back! I don't know where time goes, but I do know that I feel so much more accomplished when I have finished a crafty creation! School holidays have begun and I was out most of the day running around organising and dropping my daughter at Grandmas for a few days - they love their time together. I finally managed to get sometime in my craft room this evening and made a quick celebration themed embossed card. I never tire of watching embossing powder "turn" when it is heated - there still an element of wonder as I watch.  To complement the silver embossed images I mounted on a foil edged card, giving instant elegance to the project, and raised the card front with a piece of corrugated cardstock (one of my favourite tips - the corrugated card layer gives lots of support to the card front). Welcome to this months Stampin' Friends Blog Hop. This month's theme is Fall. It's not something that we celebrate in Australia, so Iv'e created projects using autumn colours... which is a bit out of my comfort zone.   Orange's are not my thing, so to ease into the theme I incorporated Petal Pink, now that's more me!   I sponged Petal Pink, Pumpkin Pie and Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla for my leaves. Since I wasn't in my normal zone I ruffed up a scrap of Petal Pink and ran it through the Corrugated Embossing folder, then I roughed the edges a little more - where is the real Sue Vine? To get a nice dark stamping on the sentiment I used the Stamparatus and applied and stamped Cherry Cobbler multiple times. Lastly I dressed up my gift candle by wrapping a piece of coordinating Petal Pink and secured by tying with Linen Thread and adding a couple of spare leaves. What to do when it is wet, windy and cold? Put the heater on in the craft studio and get creating of course! That's the plan but where was the mojo, I needed something to trigger inspiration, so I checked out my favourite challenge blogs and BOOM, I had it: I'd just opened up my latest order that contained the Bloom & Grow bundle, these colours would work.... now where are those ink pads? Search high and low, nothing so I went to my Stampin' Markers and before not to long I had my image coloured - using a clear block I coloured a little of the marker and then used an aqua painter to apply to the stamped image. I was fascinated with the scalloped dies in this set - they are designed so that you can insert your die cut flower into the card, they don't cut all the way across your card front, how cool is that!
