Winter Woods with Itty Bitty Christmas

My project today was inspired by a Tammy Wilson  card - I knew straight away that I wanted to to get inky with Winter Woods . I haven't done a "Northern Lights" creation this year (this time last year I was planning to be overseas and hoped I may even be lucky enough to see them first hand, but it was not to be), so got out some watercolour paper and made a background wash using  Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Just Jade and Mossy Meadow.  When it had fully dried, I stamped my tree and then added a random covering of white embossing powder, including in the "sky", once heat set I splattered with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint for some frosty sparkle. I repeat stamped the tree trunk stamp in Gray Granite, with touches of Early Espresso & Basic Gray,  stamped a sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas then roughed up all the egdes and added Lined Twine. Thanks for visiting today, I hope you enjoyed viewing my project. Stay tuned for more inspiration and tips this

Stampers Showcase - All about embossing

Ah... the wonder of Heat Embossing, I don't think I will ever grow tired of seeing dull powder turning into a beautiful shiny embossed finish, there is something mesmerising about it. For my card I've embossed both fine/detailed stamping as well as bolder lines in the sentiment to show the beauty of embossing for you, I've also decided last miniute to record me making the card so you can see "the wonder" as I call it. Isn't the shine of the embossing just beautiful, like I said in the recording I love all embossing techniques, but heat embossing would have to be my favourite. I can't wait for you to see all the other inspiration from the new catalogue in the hop today, so why don't you go ahead and click the next button to visit the lovely Leonie Stuart. Be sure to follow the hop back around to me (or wherever you started) so you don't miss out on any great ideas! Thanks for visiting today, I hope you enjoyed viewing my project. Stay tuned for mor

Dandelion Wishes Stampin' Up! CC&S#393

Hello, happy Sunday - I hope your weekend has been an enjoyable one. I had lots of fun with the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge last week, so I'm playing along again, this week with a colour challenge. I dusted off my Dandelion Wishes stamp set and blended the 3 colours of the challenge through my stamping - it's especially easy to do with the aid of the Stamparatus . I started with the Dandelion stamp, applying Night of Navy with a sponge dauber to the centre and stem only and stamping, then next Misty Moonlight around the edge of the main flower, then lastly adding Crumb Cake to the "fly aways" and stamping. Then I removed that stamp from the Stamparatus and aligned the sentiment and repeated the colour blending process stamping each colour separately. Then I removed most of the Misty Moonlight ink from the dauber and lightly applied to the centre of the flower, and then added a little Crumb Cake to the edge into the fly aways. Thanks for visiting today, I h

Well Said Stampin' Up! FMS458

I said "oh bother", but then my daughter said "hey that looks cool!", how different can two interpretations of a stamping whoopsie be! So yes, I had a whoopsie when stamping the Happy sentiment on my card, I went with "cool, it's like a shadow", I did consider stamping on black and white embossing the sentiment, but hey, I was going to argue with a 13 year old, hahaha! I'm playing along at Freshly Made Sketches , and loved Karen Johnson's card, this is my "variation" on it as a more masculine design. Firstly I used masking to create a crisp edge with each of Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Poppy Parade, Bermuda Bay and Mango Melody, then I cut that panel using a Stitched Rectangle , then cut a large Stitched Rectangle and mounted that over basic black. cutting a birthday die with a Well Written die, then stamping the last of the sentiment from the  Well Said  stamp set. I couldn't not add some sequins to finish. Thanks for
