Miss Pinks Craft Spot

I "pro-craftinated" way too much this weekend, then told myself off and  finally got inky this afternoon with the help of the Global Design Challenge Sketch . I had a plan and it came together quite quickly - here's what I created: I struggled to decide between Seaside Spray and Pool Party, deciding on Pool Party mainly because I had more in my supplies and due to an uncompleted Seaside Spray project. There is actually a bit going on with this card, in this shot you can see the Subtle embossing on the base layer, as well as a "spray" of white Craft ink behind the snowflakes. I also added a touch of bling by spritzing the Pool Party background with Frost White Shimmer paint, then Silver embossed the sentiment. After my little mishap with my first card I was actaully feeling pretty good from the "salvage process" and thought - make another card with that left over piece of DSP. In a jiffy I had the card planned, this design is one of my "go to" designs for using up strips of DSP, and it hasn't disappointed yet! In a nut shell, use your strip of DSP, then add a raised layer of card stock (or you could just do a flat layer, but I love the raised look). As with the card on Sunday, I added the frosty goodness of Ice Stampin' Glitter for my bling. The small sentiments in Itty Bitty Christmas gave me a challenge, so many to choose from, finally I decided on "joy to the world", I really like the mixture of fonts. I've wanted to create for the past few days, but my mojo hasn't been my friend - today I decided no matter what I was going to finish a card..... here's how the story goes... First I cleaned my craft desk, with the help of Rimmer - he's been clinging to me the past week, poor little fella got a bit over playful with our Bengal, and now they are no where near being friends, he cowers at the sight of her. So when the desk was cleared I saw my Feels Like Frost DSP - perfect, I thought, this paper is so gorgeous it will do pretty much all the work for me, and I should have a card in no time... or so I thought... Can you believe it, I dropped my stamp, I was so annoyed with myself - can mojo please shine on me soon? I hoped that as I had stamped with VersaMark to then emboss, the ink would dry clear and I could restamp, but my ink pad is well loved and a little stained with colour so, no such luck, what to do? It's the first Friday of the month, so that means we are back with the All Star Tutorial Bundle Blog Hop.  I enjoyed experimenting with watercolour for my tutorial, so I thought I will continue the theme into today's hop - it's a different card and technique, but features a watercolour element. I must say, I was terrified to try this technique, but absolutely adore the outcome! It's really simple to do too - ink up your stamp (I've used the tree from Winter Woods), spritz your watercolor paper, spritz your inked image, then stamp... and then magic before your eyes, isn't it wonderful? I'm normally into fine lines and details, but the randomness of the watercoloured tree blows my mind, I love it! I also double stamped the sentiment (from Merry Christmas to All), first in Cherry Cobbler, then in Golden Glitz, the shimmer is just gorgeous in real life (my photo doesn't give justice) - at first glance it tricks your eyes and may l...

Welcome to this month's Stampers Showcase Blog hop, celebrating the change of season in the northern hemisphere with the theme of "Happy Fall Y'all". This hop was a two level challenge for me, 1. we don't really "get into" autumn here in Australia, and 2. fall colours are not my "go to", I'm more of a pink and floral kinda gal. After much contemplation I decided to do watercolor stamping. I used dauber to apply a mixture of colours to the solid leaf stamps, then spritzed the water colour paper and the ink on the stamp, then stamped, then repeated until all the leaves were done, then let dry.  Next I tore scrap paper to mask the leaves then stamped the Birch background and sponged the edges before "roughing them up with scissors, I also added some splatters of colour with an aqua painter.  Lastly adding some die cut branches behind the sentiment from Accented blooms.
