Welcome to the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest Lea Denton from the United Kingdom, you may also know her as The Crafty Spark. Part of what I love about our blog hops is choosing a project to CASE - Copy and Selectively Edit, today I decided the below card by Lea:
I love the layout of Lea's card, the flower popping out around the sentiment, and the layers (I just love layers) and that cute bow! Here's my take on Lea's project:
I've used the Cottage Greetings set to create my card, I'm sad to see it is retiring, the flowers are so cute, and I adore the the font of the sentiments too. I've used watercolour pencils with a blender pen to colour the flowers - it was very relaxing.
The stamping did take some time, but that is the control freak in me.... I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig to place the flowers, well worth the effort I think. I cut an oval and masked the centre of my card, then lightly pencilled lines from corner to corner and vertical and horizontal as a guide for spacing the flowers to begin with. I started with the largest flower, then the single stem flower, next I added extra leaves, then the flower with the leaves around the edge of the oval, finally I filled in the gaps with the little double flowers. Once I was sure the ink had dried I carefully erased my pencil lines.
I'm falling more in love with the watercolour pencils the more I use them, it is like the blender pen just melts the colour and blends seamlessly. The stitched shapes framelits add a lovely layer of detail to the sentiment, and I finished it of with a bakers twine bow, here is a closer view:
