I am soooo excited with the project I have for you today, it's one of those things you put on your "I must do some day list" and you keep putting it off.
I grabbed the Animal Expedition DSP, I had about a quarter of a pack, and started to plan - yep, I can't do anything easy, I decided to make a custom size album rather than a 6" x 6" like so many of the tutorials I've watched.
My pocket pages are made from half a piece of A4 cardstock, which fits a 4" wide piece of DSP perfectly - that ticked a big box for me (less fiddly cuts), my first try at the spine mechanism was a disaster... or should I say I didn't read my notes, 2nd time worked like a charm.
I didn't have any chipboard, so I made my cover 4 layers of cardstock thick, and had the idea to bind the edge of it. Whilst I like the look of the cover bound with the Burlap Ribbon, it was problematic with adhering - I started with Double Sided tape over the edge, followed by a 2nd layer on both the front and back, some places stuck really well, others not so, so then I added multipurpose glue, covered with clingwrap and bulldog clips and left overnight to dry. I need to rethink the design for the cover, and I also had an other idea I want to try with the pocket pages.
I'm going to use this album to hold photos of my daughters first visit to the zoo, wow, that was 12 yrs ago, better late than never!!
I've lost count of the number of tutorials I've watched over time for mini albums, I always have every intention of making one, but.... well, I just watch another tutorial instead of sitting down and creating. Well, not on last Sunday afternoon, it was cold, wet, raining & I had discovered my retiring DSP "situation"
