Ink it! Stamp it! Ombre Stamping Technique

Welcome to the Ink it! Stamp it! Blog Hop. This month we will be sharing projects using some of our favourite Techniques. The full line up below will guide you through all the projects and we'd love to hear from you on what your favourite technique is? 

Today I am showing what I call the "Ombre Stamping Technique", it's how I create these lovely images stamping these flowers, and I adore the effect this technique creates!

The materials for this technique are:

• Ink pads, I've used Powder Pink, Fresh Fig and Elegant Eggplant
• Sponge Daubers - use a separate one for each ink pad
• cardstock, whisper white, very vanilla or a very light or pastel colour
• and of course your stamp!

Now for the process:

1. Select the lighted colour first, ink up your dauber, and apply to the centre of the flower on your stamp
2. use the next darkest colour, ink up your dauber, and apply to the stamp, being careful to leave some of the middle (lightest ink) untouched
3. ink up with the darkest colour, and apply to the edge of the stamp
4. lightly breath on your stamp, warm breath will moisten the ink if it has dried out a little - the dauber applies only a thin layer of ink
5. Stamp onto your card stock - there you have it, your "Ombre Stamped Flower"

If you are partial to bling, you can also apply some Wink of Stella - of course I have! I also added Wink of Stella to my embossed background, it looks better in "the flesh", but you can see a hint of the glimmer below.

I used the floral embossing folder from the Petal Pair set for my background, then cut and layered my flowers from the Cake Soiree set, and the foliage from the coordinating Sweet Cake Framelits
