Color Fusers Blog Hop April 2022

Hello crafters, welcome to this month's Color Fusers Monthly Blog Hop! This month, our colors include Crumb Cake, Bermuda Bay, Old Olive & Bumblebee.  I must admit, with the exception of when the 2020-22 In Colors were released, Bumblebee has not been used very much in my colour palette, I'm not really a "yellow kinda gal", and this is what I love about colour challenges, they make you look outside your normal range of go-to colours. I started by stamping the leave image from the soon to be retiring  Free as a Bird  stamp setnaround the edge of the card front, using 1st and 2nd generation stamping to give Crumb Cake a variation of shades. Then for the background I applied a light layer of Bermuda Bay with a Blending Brush, then overlaid with the Dot Mask from the Basic Pattern Decorative Mask set and applied another layer of Bermuda Bay, before moving the mask and applying Bumblebee to create a dappled sunlight look. I also added a little Craft White to soften som...

Free as a Bird - Share it Sunday blog hop

Welcome to Share it Sunday, a blog hop where everything goes, any colour, any theme, sentiment as long as it is a current item from Stampin' Up!  I really enjoyed making this card, I haven't used the gorgeous Free as a Bird stamp set in such a long time, it was great to get inky inspiration with it again and do some relaxing colouring. I chose a slimline design to give lots of "white space" which really makes the focal image pop, and couldn't resist putting a cute scalloped edge down the side of the card. I used Stampin' Blends alcohol markers to colour the stamped image: Light Flirty Flamingo, So Saffron, Cherry Cobbler Soft Suede, Light and Dark Soft Seafoam, Crumb Cake. I light sponged Balmy Blue on the background and splattered with Petal Pink, Soft Seafoam, Balmy Blue and Black Stampin' Write markers, before adhering to the Petal Pink scalloped edge. After attaching the image with Mini Dimensionals I stamped the sentiment, then to finish I wound Lin...

Retiring 2019-2021 In Colors Blog Hop

We said hello, now we say goodbye to the 2019-2021 InColors:  Rococo Rose, Purple Posy, Pretty Peacock, Terracotta Tile & Seaside Spray, what was your favourite? I was super excited to see Purple Posy, but then with the issues with the ink, I would have to say my new favourite became Seaside Spray. Don't get me wrong, I still love the Purple Posy Cardstock, it's such a lovely subtle shade and coordinates beautifully with Highland Heather & Gorgeous Grape. And as far as pinks go, Rococo Rose was a great variation in the "pink palette", with a bit of an antique feel about it. Next would come Pretty Peacock, a tad bold and dark for me, but still a lovely tone - when I did ink up with it I was always happy, just not a "go to" for me. Lastly, Terracotta Tile - I'm just not an "orange" kinda girl. I would see gorgeous creations using it, but my creativity just never opened up to love this colour as a "go to" Now it's time for yo...
