Swirly Bird | Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Mikaela Titheridge

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest Mikaela Titheridge from the UK. I have been a long time follower of Mikaela, love the retreat/workshops, and her projects, well... WOW. Chosing a project to CASE - Copy and Selectively Edit was hard, as there are so many of Mikaela's creations that I love! I decided on the below card, I was drawn to the colours and the technique - Ghosting: I've not tried the Ghosting technique before, I must admit I was intrigued! In a nutshell, this stamping method requires you to first stamp with White Ink, then when it is dried stamp your colour over the white image, but slightly off setting your stamp so that you create a shadow as well as a white line.  I decided to use Swirly Bird as it is a photoploymer set and it would be easy to see where to stamp my colour once the White Craft ink was dry, here is what Mikaela's card inspired me to create: I was a little scared when stamping with the craft ink, h...

Seaside Shore with a Z-fold

Today I decided it was time to pick up a stamp set that I hadn't used before - you know one of those sets you see in the catalogue that you just have to get, and you just haven't got to use it yet!  I recently re-organised my crafting area (amazing what you find when you do this); my electric  cutter is now in a much more usable space, so I dusted it off and and had a play with that too - don't fret, you can achieve a very similar result by fussy cutting, I just didn't feel like fussy cutting today. Aren't these little fish just adorable, I can't decide between the black and white or the Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight as my favourite, the both look so lovely. H ow good does the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder  work for creating little bubbles rising from the ocean floor, and that curvy edge on the top of the card is courtesy of the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies I've used sponging on the seaweed, rope a...

Swirly Bird | #WWYS80

Ahoy stampers! This week we are showcasing the amazingly versatile Swirly Bird  You can create such a variety of images with this set: flowers leaves birds background splatters  kites boats The stamp set can also be paired with the Swirly Scribbles framelits - purchase as a Bundle and save 10% I have made a number of cards using the flowers and leaves, so I've decided to go nautical with my latest creation, here it is I stamped my little boat and fussy cut, using the co-ordinating framelits to create the ocean, and for that WOW factor created a Life Bouy using Calypso Coral Thick Baker's Twine.  Then I went a step further and added the shaker element... there was a slight cataosrophy during this process.... I knocked the sequin container, I don't think any more needs to be said! UPDATE: Lots of people have been asking how I created the outer loops, I folded the bakers twine and tied a knot, then measured around and repeated, then...

Greatest Greetings | #WWYS68

Happy Monday! It's What Will You Stamp? time, this weeks featured stamp set is Greatest Greetings I've chosen So Saffron as the pop of colour as a special Hooray to my daughter who completed her Karate grading for her Yellow Belt - well done sweetie!  I wanted the "belt" to be the focal point of the card, so I lightly embossed the Whisper White background with the Confetti TIEF to add texture, but not take focus off the banner sentiment. Just love how this colour combination turned out! This embossing folder has such a cute party/celebration theme to it and only the outer edges of the card are embossed with the folder, leaving an oval in the centre for your sentiment or image  Swirly Scribbles aren't just circles! - I die cut a large Swirly Scribble, then snipped it to create an oval to fit the edge of the embossing, swirled some gold thread, and mounted my belt/banner over the gap and here you have it! To see all th...

Swirly Scribbles Rose

Oh my, Swirly Scribbles is amazing!   I must admit, when I first saw Swirly Bird and Swirly Scribbles I did glance over it, but now that I have the bundle and have a play I am sold, I can see so many possibilities !  How adorable is this rose! The rose is cut using the smallest of the swirls, I stamped and fussy cut the Blushing Bride background, added a little shimmer with Wink of Stella.  Die cut and stamped the leaves and my rose was done.  You can purchase Swirly Bird and Swirly Scribbles from June 1st individually or as a bundle and save 10%. I've used the Layering Squares framelits to create my frame. I love the variety in this new set -  there are 10 scalloped and 9 straight edged squares, perfect for layering, or in this case to create a gorgeous scalloped frame for the sentiment. These new framelits are available from June 1st.  I used my trusty Hardwood  background stamp (one of my favourites) to give more depth to the ca...

Under the sea with Friends & Flowers and Swirly Scribbles

I've gone to the sea with Friends and Flowers with some help from Swirly Scribbles - I never would have thought of this as sea weed til my husband said so! I had a vision for my case of Paula's card for this weeks challenge at Global Design Project - I love the raised sentiment "you" and straight away the Swirly Scribbles thinlets came to mind, and the Freshly Made Sketch challenge worked in perfectly too!          I excitedly started by choosing the funky Bermuda Bay and Kraft pattern from the Shine on Speciality DSP, Bermuda Bay card stock and I was on my way.......however that is as far as I got, then I was in the middle of a "non-card" when my husband said "you need some bubbles and a fish".  I searched for bubbles - Swirly Bird, and then saw that Friends and Flowers has a fish, some clear embossing powder and a touch of Wink of Stella and vwalah! Friends & Flowers is on the retiring list, so only available til...
